A Day I Will Never Forget
One sunny afternoon, I stood on the stage in front of the classroom. My heart was pounding in my chest, and my palms were sweaty. Today was the school's English speaking contest, and I had been chosen as one of the participants. I had prepared for weeks, practicing my speech over and over again. But now, it was the moment of truth.
The contest started, and the first few students went up to speak. They all looked calm and confident, but I could feel my heart racing faster and faster. When it was my turn, I tried to take a deep breath and walk slowly to the front of the stage. I looked at the audience and began to speak. At first, my voice was a bit shaky, but as I continued, I felt myself getting more comfortable.
I spoke about my favorite hobby, which is drawing. I explained how I enjoy creating different pictures and how each stroke of the brush feels so satisfying. The audience listened carefully, and I could see some of them nodding in agreement. When I finished my speech, the room was quiet for a moment, and then the judges started clapping. I felt a surge of happiness and relief.
After the contest, the principal announced the winners. To my surprise, I was named one of the top three! I couldn't believe it. I had never felt so proud in my life. The principal gave me a small trophy, and I held it tightly, knowing that this was something I would never forget.
This day taught me the value of hard work and confidence. Even though I was nervous at first, I managed to overcome my fears and do my best. I know that with practice and determination, anything is possible.
From that day on, I became more confident in speaking in front of others. I realized that no matter how scary it seems, if I keep practicing and believe in myself, I can achieve great things. That's why this day is forever etched in my memory—it's the day I learned to be brave and the day I fell in love with public speaking.
